Histopathology, a branch of histology, studies diseased tissues, helping diagnose serious illness like cancer. The specimens are prepared by histo-technicians, highly trained specialists who study histo-technology.

Often times, chemical fixatives are being used in an effort to prevent the cells and / or tissue from degradation. The process will preserve the cell / tissue integrity, but sometimes it can damage the enzymes.
